Married 1st wife Mary Viola Jones on 11 Sept 1888 in Hocking Co. Ohio.
Later divorced. Married 2nd wife Alva Nutter.

"According to family tradition, Alex Loper would drink alot and he and wife Mary Viola would fight. She would have him arrested. The last time they fought, she had him put in the Dayton Workhouse (Dayton Workhouse Human Rehabilitation Center, 1613 South Gettysburg, Dayton, Ohio 45408.) which is a correction Farm. When he got out, he returned and took my grandfather Jasper to a bar and bought him a drink. He wanted him to go with him. My grandfather loved his father very much, but was worried about who would take care of his mother so he refused. That was the last time anyone saw Alex Loper. There were reports that he went to eastern Ohio. We eventually found him living in Harrison Co, West Virginia. He had remarried to a woman named Alva Nutter. It is my understanding that Alex Loper played the fiddle very well."
I have a copy of the Death Certificate in my possession.

Junior Loper Inmate M W 7 S - Y - WV US US - -
